DigiAdmy was running Facebook ads to generate leads and needed to send meeting reminders and follow-up messages automatically over WhatsApp. They were using AI Sense to handle this. On the surface it worked. Underneath, three problems were stacking up.

The per-message cost was unsustainable. AI Sense charges per message sent. WhatsApp charges per conversation on top of that. Every lead triggered a chain of messages and every message had a price. The more leads they generated, the more they paid just to reach them.
Their meeting tools had no native WhatsApp support. There was no way to send meeting reminders directly to leads over WhatsApp without going through AI Sense. That tool was a forced dependency, not a choice.
A third problem appeared mid-build. The initial plan included Make.com for automation triggers. Make.com charges per run. At DigiAdmy's volume it would have replaced one per-action cost with another. The savings would have disappeared.
Phase 1
Map the Flow and Identify the Cost Points
Every touchpoint in the lead journey was audited: Facebook lead capture, WhatsApp trigger, meeting reminder logic, follow-up sequences, and lead status tracking. The finding was simple: the only cost that should exist is the standard Meta conversation rate. Everything else was an avoidable layer.
Phase 2
Build on n8n, Cut the Dependencies
Instead of Make.com or AI Sense, we built a custom-coded webhook trigger. When a Facebook lead comes in, it fires instantly, captures the lead data, and passes it directly to n8n — a self-hosted automation platform with no per-run cost. The entire WhatsApp system runs through n8n:

The biggest cost trap in WhatsApp automation is layering paid tools on top of each other. Each layer adds a per-action fee. Build directly on n8n with a custom trigger and the per-message cost disappears. What remains is only what Meta charges, which is a fraction of what most businesses currently pay to third-party platforms for the same job.

With the system live and costs eliminated, DigiAdmy is expanding to more nuanced lead qualification over WhatsApp and smarter response logic for high-intent leads. The cost structure is now fixed. They can scale ad spend without scaling follow-up costs.
